In 2023, I co-founded Relativ. Following my scientific publication in Nature about how machine learning can yield insights into human behavioral patterns, I was keen on exploring novel interfaces that can augment and connect our social and creative expression. With the explosion of Generative AI and Large Language Models, I decided to build a conversational middleware engine that uses deep learning, psychology, and linguistics to provide key contextual insights into live or recorded conversations. The engine is capable of learning from real-world data and engaging in live conversations, while also analyzing the content of those conversations to deliver personalized coaching, advice, or insights.

In 2015, I co-founded Mursion. What began as an educational technology venture built upon years of my academic research has since evolved into a virtual reality training platform designed to help unlock human potential. Mursion uses “Avatars” controlled in real time by a live human being (digital puppeteer), and assisted with AI, to help professionals develop and enhance the essential skills required to be productive, effective and successful in high stakes careers.

I moved to the US in 2009 - 2010, continuing my academic career as a Post Doctoral Researcher for 3 years with a focus on Computer Vision, Virtual Reality and Robotics. I went on to become a Research Assistant Professor at the Institute for Simulation and Training at the University of Central Florida, under the superb mentorship of Drs. Greg Welch and Charles Hughes. 6 years of research yielded patents and helped secure ongoing funding from the US DOD, NSF, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation among others, eventually leading to the founding of Mursion.

Between 2004 and 2009, I spent my time at the University of Manchester, UK graduating with a Ph.D. in Robotics while enjoying the best of the Premier League from amazing stadiums across England. I had the good fortune of being supervised and mentored by Dr. Robert Richardson, an inspirational friend and mentor, while being involved with several projects:

UAV and UGV Reconnaissance

​A new locomotion method for unmanned (autonomous) air and ground vehicles (UAV/UGV) allows them to perform maneuvers conventional vehicles cannot perform -- in particular the ability to control the body orientation separately from the movement direction

Robotic exploration of the Great Pyramid

A climbing robot called “Djedi” was designed, constructed, and deployed to explore shafts of the queen’s chamber within the Great Pyramid. The Djedi robot is based on the concept of inchworm motion and was capable of carrying a long reach drill or snake camera.​
